Is it just me, or has the artist dressed Petrarch like the nurse from Romeo and Juliet?

Show some respect, people!

Went to Florence yesterday (and Monday, too); this is outside the Uffizzi Gallery.

Today's edition of Things You Would Like But Probably Don't Know About:

Quirky Nomads: The story of a family who said "If the Republicans get any worse, we're moving to Canada!" - and then they really did.
Hilarious podcast, mostly filled with "overheard on the subway" bits and wonderful reminiscinces. Don't miss the recent "Samuel Beckett" or, from a couple weeks ago, "How We Met" parts 4 and 5.

Free audiobooks done by volunteers, of works in the public domain. I'm listening to A Little Princess right now, and did Bierce's The Parenticide Club before that. A great accompaniment to knitting, but also very very nice for long waits at train stations, plane flights, doing dishes, etc.
